Prepare and review medical reports and logs, such as EMS call volume, revenues, and HIPAA compliance, to assure regulatory and procedural compliance, evaluate methods and procedures and mitigate risk to the department.Plan and organize division operations, training and associated activities with respect to equipment, apparatus and personnel to assure maximum efficiency and effectiveness.Act as Infection Control Officer for East Pierce Fire and Rescue.In coordination with the Prevention and Public Education, ensure the success of EMS related programs in the community including, but not limited to, the Public Access Defibrillator and CAP programs.Oversee the customer satisfaction survey program and Division pilot programs.Complete and submit agency paperwork to ensure compliance with EMS regulations and licenses.Monitor department controlled substances plan and compliance Review controlled substance inventory, tracking, audits, distribution, and disposal.Complete QI report and recommendations for follow-up action. Oversee the investigation of clinical/EMS related unusual occurrences (UOs) and complaints (i.e.Represent the department at Pierce County, West Regional, and State QI meetings.Oversee the department's EMS/CQI Committee, reports and recommendations for programs to improve medical services quality, and participate on CQI team assignments.Serve on the American Heart Association BLS/ACLS/PALS Regional Faculty, and, as required, represents the Department at county, regional, and state EMS meetings.Monitor and evaluate personnel compliance with completing training, along with the effectiveness of EMS programs. ![]() Supervise training and evaluate trainees provide required information to supervisors for additional coaching and mentoring as needed.Plan, coordinate, supervise and evaluate work assignments for instructors.Ensure the coordination of Training for career and volunteer personnel.Oversee and participate in the development, scheduling, instruction and evaluation of training and education programs, including but not limited to OTEP, Base Station courses, ACLS, PALS, AMLS, PHTLS, instructor courses.Monitor clinical performance of department personnel at the scene of EMS incidents and provide feedback. At major and pre-determined high-acuity incidents, routinely assume an IMS medical command role as assigned by the Incident Commander.Develop and implement division and department standard operating procedures, policies, rules, regulations and guidelines designed to ensure professional training exercises, emergency medical services and medical transport services that are focused on high standards of customer service and patient care.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Oversight and supervision are exercised over uniformed and administrative personnel, and/or professional and technical employees, vendors, or contractors as required. This position will serve in a command function at major emergency medical incidents. Responsibilities include strategic planning, policy development, and department operations related to training, emergency medical and medical transport related services and programs. This is a management position under the direction of the Fire Chief and/or Deputy Chief, responsible for the administration and coordination of the activities, personnel and resources of the Emergency Medical Services Divisions of the Department. ![]()
